February 2025 Moon Energies
FULL MOON February 12 in Cancer in Aslesha ~ Gandanta
The February Full Moon peaks in the very final degrees of Cancer at 5:30am PST and then quickly continues on into Leo across what is known as the “Gandanta” zone. The Gandanta zone is where a planet transits from a water sign into a fire sign and essentially heats up and releases steam. Gandanta is a term that means the “untying of a karmic knot” ~ while the planet has been immersed in a water sign, it churns up the oceans of our subconscious and draws to the surface energies that need to be cleared. Therefore, as it rises into the light and warmth of a fire sign, it’s as if there is steam coming off the planet. One can envision the vapours rising off a lake as the morning Sun rises. This process creates space for karmic energies to rise to the surface of the emotional waters of our awareness where they may evaporate and release, but we need to acknowledge them and allow ourselves to let go, otherwise, we end up feeling very overwhelmed and even confused.
This energy may feel uncomfortable because it is often something we do not want to be looking at; however, if we are willing to face these rising energies, this challenge provides an incredible opportunity to lighten our karmic load. As the Moon crosses this Gandanta zone into Leo, the Sun will also cross from Capricorn into Aquarius; therefore, February 12th itself could feel like a pretty intense day for many people. Generally speaking, whenever the Sun moves into a new sign (as it does every 30days or so), the first few days bring a bit of wobbliness and immunity tends to be more fragile during this time. Ideally it is a time for rest and introspection, however, this is not always possible…so, simply being aware, eating healthy and not pushing oneself to any extremes is very helpful.
Nakshatras
Ashlesha Nakshatra is symbolized by the Nagas, which are the mystical serpent energies. Serpents, or snakes, are a timeless symbol for deep wisdom and esoteric knowledge. Ashlesha is ruled by Mercury connecting us to our intellect, and the higher mind which gives us the ability to meditate and contemplate on the deeper and more profound aspects of life. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself contemplating the greater meaning of life this month ahead… the world is changing at a rapid pace and humanity stands at the precipice of several paradigm shifts in consciousness. It will be very helpful to know what you stand for and the values you hold sacred in your heart during the times ahead because, when “the flow” inevitably turns into a rapid, it will be much easier, and even joyous, if we are grounded in Spiritual Wisdom and inner knowing.
After peaking in Ashlesha, the Moon very quickly, within hours, moves into Leo into the Nakshatra of Magha, therefore, it is important to address this energy as well. Magha Nakshatra is represented by a royal throne and the star of power. Magha is associated with the ability to leave one’s body, which could be seen as NDE, OEB and physical death experiences, but also, it is the ability to engage the higher mind in meditation and as a witness to the body vehicle each soul has been given, rather than the tendency to be obsessively identified with the physical body as self. Leo is the sign of royalty and is ruled by the Sun. Leo represents leadership, authority and independence and later this Spring when Ketu moves into Leo, I foresee that over the next two years we are going to witness a lot of continued change and upheavel in positions of authority around the world as all systems of governance are likely to experience radical transformation. Personally, I see this is a positive event for humanity and the Earth.
Leo and the Sun
Leo is ruled by the Sun and is often misinterpreted as being a very egotistical, self-centred, self-serving sign; however, this is the lowest expression of Leo, which sadly we have too often seen in positions of political and corporate authority. The lower mind sees itself as the centre of the universe in a self-serving, egotistical way but, any ruler, whether Queen or CEO, who does not rule in service to the people, brings a lot more harm than good to the world. This indeed is ego.
However, the beautiful, radiant, life-giving Surya ~ our Sun ~ shines its light equally on everyone, every day, in every way and never asks for anything in return… If there is one thing humanity has been able to count on, without fail, it is that every day, from Earth’s perspective, the Sun will rise and because of its radiant light, life exists. Our solar system revolves around the Sun and each planet is born from the Sun. The Surya leads us, guides us, nourishes us; we depend on its light for life and yet it does not ask for anything in return. This kind of service is the highest expression of Leo and it is filled with unconditional love, joy, radiance, brilliance and honour. The highest expression of Leo is life-giving, life-enhancing and, just like a Lion, leads with the kind of pride that knows the difference between greed and honour.
The Moon will move swiftly onward into Virgo in a couple of days and continue its journey through the Zodiac while the Sun will stay in Aquarius for the month ahead. This transit through Aquarius further highlights the current socio-political trends in the world. Aquarius is perhaps the most rebellious sign of the zodiac and is often associated with the greater good and the power of the people. As the Sun, our great leader, transits Aquarius, it makes its way toward Pisces where next month there will be a most profound confluence of planets and energies that will peak at the end of March with an eclipse, all together representing a time of big endings and transformative, new beginnings. Collectively and individually, the Spring of 2025 promises to be a time of great change and transformation.. it is a time to stay open-minded, open-hearted and grounded in Spiritual practice.
Spring 2025
Spring 2025 is not a time to be making any drastic, life-changing decisions… it is not a time to “make up our mind” about anything as that only closes doors and doesn’t allow us to see the opportunities that lay before us now. For many it may seem that life is full of sudden and unexpected events and, as I mentioned before, going with “the flow” feels a whole lot more like river rafting for a while, but know that by June, the rapids will calm and we will all be able to start integrating the changes. More on this to come.
I wish you all a beautiful and healing time in the month ahead. The noise of the world may seem very loud and it can be hard to know what to think about any of it. Wisdom teaches us that all the answers lie within and the eternal now moment is always the right time to go within, centre, ground, meditate, contemplate and be at one with the moment you find yourself in. Accept, embrace and surrender…
Trust that you are loved, know that everything is always working out for you and if this is something you doubt to be true, you may practice the following and just experiment, observe and see if the energy shifts for you ~ close your eyes, place your hands on your heart and take five deep, slow, long breaths… your attention will flow into your heart’s natural cosmic intelligence which, unlike the mind, is not polarized. The heart is connected to your higher Self, Cosmic Intelligence and Source Energy and can offer you guidance and inner peace anytime you need it.
Infinite love & cosmic blessings, Om Shanti Shanti Shanti, Hari Om Tat Sat.
