Insight into a Jyotish Journey
**For anyone new to Jyotish Astrology readings - maybe you’re thinking about booking your first natal chart reading, or maybe you’ve had one with someone else and just want to know more about having one with me, I created this post to give you a small glimpse into what to expect.

My name is Christina and I was trained and initiated into the most ancient Spiritual Science of Jyotish, or Vedic Astrology, in the Himalayas by an esteemed Himalayan Yoga Master and Jyotishi. From the very first class, I fell deeply in love with ‘the Science of Light’ known as Jyotish. After several decades of practicing and teaching yoga as a holistic way of living one’s highest expression of self, Jyotish revealed itself to be the perfect evolutionary step along my path, allowing me to deepen my own growth and simultaneously expand my offerings and ability to serve others in their healing journey.

Jyotish is a Veda Anga ~ meaning it is a “branch”, “limb” or “part” of the Vedas. Jyotish is also known as “the Eye of the Veda”, which clearly reveals to us just how much value and importance this “branch” of the Vedas is to understanding ourselves, humanity, life and the cosmos, for we are working with and through the great EYE of it all…
What I love so deeply about Jyotish is how accurate a natal chart (Janma Kundli in Sanskrit) is ~ the insights offered during a chart reading are crystal clear and therefore, possess a profound power to transform a person’s life very much for the better. So many of us are wandering through life searching for meaning, purpose and fulfillment. Jyotish provides direct insight into one’s soul purpose ~ turning wandering into seeking, and ultimately, seeking into discovery. It reveals one’s natural, inherent gifts and offers ways to align with one’s highest path for realizing these talents.
Jyotish astrology shows a person where their challenges and obstacles to realizing fulfillment might lie and does so in a way that empowers an individual to overcome and transcend. With divine guidance and personalized spiritual practices, one comes out of a Jyotish reading feeling enlightened, strong and clear about what steps they need to take.

Overview:
A full Jyotish Natal Chart reading is minimum one hour ~ 90min. There is always time for questions and never a rush. There is a natural flow to the process, a lot of information is shared in one reading, but you will feel comfortable knowing that you can email me with any questions that arise following your reading as well.
After booking a time for your reading, I will ask for your time, date and place of birth. This information is required for me to cast your chart and move forward preparing for your reading. I spend several hours in preparation for our reading together researching and diving deep into your natal chart. I will also look at current transits and any specific areas of interest you may currently have.
Readings are held in person whenever possible; however, since I have clients all over the world, the majority of readings are held online via video call.

What You Will Receive:
A Jyotish Natal Chart reading is all about you! It is about getting to know yourself better and from a much higher perspective than most of us are used to seeing ourselves. Jyotish is an evolutionary science of the soul ~ the purpose of which is to enlighten and empower. Contrary to much “pop-culture” astrology, Jyotish is not about ‘fortune telling’, nor is it meant to make anyone afraid of the future. Jyotish, or Vedic Astrology, is ‘the Science of Light’ and light illuminates, it reveals truth and allows us to see clearly the path we are walking. The same way a flashlight offers sight in a dark room, Jyotish offers one the light to clearly see into one’s life.
Jyotish reveals divine aspects of the self. During your reading we will look at the patterns in your life, where your natural gifts and talents lie, what your greatest challenges are and how to overcome them. We will look at how all the planets are working with you, which ascendant sign, nakshatra moon sign and zodiac sun signs welcomed you into this particular life.
We will discuss the different aspects of your signs and the houses in which they sit. We will look deeply into your nakshatras and dashas, which offer further insight into who you are and the current ‘seasons’ of your life. (See the FAQs page for further explanation on terms.)
If one is not familiar with Jyotish, it is common for one to be surprised and amazed by the differences and the depth of understanding regarding one’s astrological chart in Vedic astrology ~ it is a much deeper interpretation and comprehensive analysis of one’s self than most people have ever received. Jyotish provides a great opportunity to intimately know oneself, gather knowledge and attain clear direction for moving forward in success.
Jyotish is the Sidereal form of astrology, which is much different than the Western Tropical style of astrology with which you may be familiar. Unlike the Tropical style of astrology which emphasizes one’s sun sign and groups people by month, Jyotish looks at specific time and place of birth to cast a chart. It is an incredibly sophisticated science that provides detailed and precise information for each individual consciousness. No two readings or interpretations are the same - ever.
the EYE of the VEDA:
Jyotish is also known as ‘the eye of the Veda’, because it is one of the most profound and insightful sciences to come out of these ancient wisdom teachings. Every reading provides incredible wisdom and insight for the person receiving. The way I was taught Jyotish by my master teacher in the Himalayan tradition was to humbly work with this science in a way that always empowers, enlivens and enlightens those who come to me for readings.
Again, this is why I love it so much. I have seen the power Jyotish has to profoundly transform and change a person’s life for myself, my friends, family and for my clients; therefore, I approach each and every reading with deep respect and joy for the journey.

WHY BOOK a READING?
There are an infinite number of reasons why one is called to have a Jyotish reading, and yes, many people reach out when going through hard times; however, it is not necessary that one be currently struggling in order to seek insight into oneself. While Jyotish is definitely very helpful during times of struggle and loss, it greatly benefits us during times of opportunity and abundance as well. Jyotish offers divine insights into our true nature ~ our soul ~ and helps us to clearly see, embrace and walk the life path of the highest possible evolutionary potential for this incarnation. The more one knows the self the more in the flow of life one can live and yogic wisdom would suggest that we not wait for the storm to hit before creating shelter. Knowledge truly is power, especially when it comes to the one thing with which we are all most intimate ~ our own lives.
It is very common for people to seek advice when going through major life changes. Challenges in relationship, family, health, business, career and all major life decisions invite great opportunity for Jyotish insights. To “realize” something means to know it. We are each born with this knowledge within, however discovering our purpose and achieving fulfillment requires the sharing of knowledge, wisdom, and support ~ it requires walking a life path commonly referred to as the “spiritual path”.
In order to connect with Spirit, we must connect with soul.

It is what allows us to respond, rather than react.
It is what heals us and alleviates unnecessary suffering and struggle.
It is what liberates us to be in this world but no longer of it.
We are ALL the ONE.
